Arch to Arc world record challenge
Brothers Mark, James and John Peter Whittaker from The Peel Group, along with three friends, are preparing for the biggest challenge of their lives this weekend (22 September) when they set off to tackle the Enduroman Arch to Arc.
The Blood Brothers Team including Gary Morton, Gary Shaw and Tom Hardman begin the Arch to Arc challenge with an 87 mile run from London’s Marble Arch to Dover, followed by a gruelling cross Channel swim from Dover to France, followed by a 181 mile bike ride from Calais to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
As a relay team the Blood Brothers will each compete in 60 minute intervals and are aiming to complete the challenge within a record breaking 36 hours from when the clock starts at Marble Arch which is likely to be Monday next week depending on tide and English Channel conditions.
The team is asking supporters to donate a unit of blood instead of money to help the many people undergoing long-term treatments, and in emergencies, who rely on blood donations to help them survive. If supporters are unable to give blood a Just Giving page has been set up for monetary donations to Anthony Nolan.
Mark Whittaker, The Peel Group’s Investment Director said “The team has been undergoing gruelling training schedules and we’re all now really looking forward to the start of the relay race. We hope our supporters help us in our mission to achieve a large number of units of donated blood to help this amazing cause which saves lives on a daily basis.”
