PLP commences construction of 228,000 sq ft of speculative logistics warehouses at PLP Ellesmere Port

PLP is pleased to announce that it has commenced construction of two speculative logistics warehouses at PLP Ellesmere Port.

The PLP Ellesmere Port site is situated on a 12-acre development plot, adjacent to Junction 8 of the M53 motorway. PLP has commenced work to speculatively develop two logistics warehouses of 90,000 sq ft and 138,000 sq ft.

Glencar Construction has been appointed as the main contractor for the scheme, with completion scheduled for April 2021.

Matthew Fitton, Development Director at PLP said: ‘This is a strong indicator of PLP’s confidence in the North West logistics market. Our plans to speculatively develop in Ellesmere Port also further strengthen PLP’s strategic position in the region.

The proximity of PLP Ellesmere Port to Junction 8 of the M53 is likely to appeal to both national and regional business alike. PLP Ellesmere Port is a well-established commercial location with a strong occupational base and good access to a large, skilled labour force with the development potentially creating up to 350 new jobs when the units are occupied and fully operational’.

As part of PLP’s sustainability policy on speculative buildings, the units will be delivered to a net zero carbon ready standard (as defined under the UK Green Building Council framework) and will achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating. Sustainability initiatives include roof mounted solar panels, multiple electric charging points for vehicles and the infrastructure to augment these post construction’.

Gerald Eve and B8 Real Estate have been appointed as leasing agents for the scheme.
